Default Advice on W/Any Build

Hello everyone.

First off, I must say that this Warrior that I am using is solely for PvP - most of which will be Alliance Battling. Keep this in mind when offering opinions.

Now, I found this build on PvX and I altered it w/ the variants listed on the article for AB-ing.

This is how it turned out:

Swordsmanship: 12+1+1
Strength: 12+1

[Sever Artery] [Gash] [Dragon Slash] [Bull's Strike] ["For Great Justice!"] [Sun and Moon Slash] [Sprint] [Tiger Stance]

So far I am pretty satisfied with the build, the only thing that bugs me is that I have no self-heal. I tried to put [Healing Signet] in there, but I couldn't find room. =/

Also, keep this in mind as well, I only have access to Factions-only skills at the moment.

Thanks in advance for your guys' help~!

Being Factions only, there isn't much else you can do then that. AB isn't really PvP so you can break some of the rules. I'd drop Bulls, perhaps for a conjure. Heal Sig doesn't really justify running Tactics, unless you're one of those people who doesn't stay with their 4 man team (thats put together with decent professions). If you just run around and kill random people (i.e, don't understand AB), then run Heal Sig.

If its for AB I'd drop [skill]Sun and Moon Slash[/skill]for [skill]Healing Signet[/skill].
[skill]Frenzy[/skill] might do better then [skill]Tiger Stance[/skill] 'cause you can keep it up all the time.
Other variant is that you drop [skill]Dragon Slash[/skill] for [skill]Quivering Blade[/skill] wich would allow you to take [skill]Healing Signet[/skill] instead of [skill]"For Great Justice!"[/skill]. Sure, there's chance you might get Dazed and QB disabled for 4 secs 'cause someone will block it,but that shouldn't matter much since you have 3 more attack skills. Without FGJ you should probably find a replacement for [skill]Sun And Moon Slash[/skill],and that could be [skill]Seeking Blade[/skill],[skill]Jaizhenju Strike[/skill] or [skill]Leviathan's Sweep[/skill].
Hope that helped a bit.

That's like changing the whole build :P

Just stick with what you've got and put [Healing Signet] over sun and moon slash, and drop to 11/10/10 or 12/10/8 (tactics being lowest) if you tend to stray away from your group.

Even for low-end PvP, [skill]Bull's Strike[/skill] is too good to drop. All my headgear has Stonefist insignias because KD's on a war are like a must on all builds, PvE and PvP. Part of the reason wars arn't really considered threatening in that type of pvp is because most dont bring KD's.

Anyways.....lack of NF kinda hurts - lots of good skills to choose from. For Factions elites, "Coward" is a good one. Dev Hammer is core, but no Enraging Charge means it could take a while to charge up. Same applies to Dragon Slash.

I'd probably use [skill]"Coward!"[/skill] in a sword bar.

Lol. Your changes basically created a new build for me. They look good and I'll try them out soon.

Also, it's not that I run around not within a group, its just - when a Kurz mob meets a Luxon mob and they start duking it out and someone comes at me. Once I kill them and my health is low, I need some form of self-heal so I am not fully reliant on the Monk in my party (who may not notice my health so low).

Thanks to everyone who has gave opinions so far and I am free to even more opinions for this build!

If you decide to run [Quivering Blade], than you might want to consider branching out to /N to have [Plague Touch]. Good for those pesky casters . And you won't have to put points into Curses too for the effect.

Yeah, those casters really get on my nerves.....

Alright this is what I came up with:

Swordsmanship: 12+1+1
Strength: 12+1

[Sever Artery][Gash][Quivering Blade][Bull's Strike][Hamstring][Sprint][Tiger Stance][Plague Touch]

I added Hamstring in there because, one Crippled is a fun Condition to give an opponent, and two because of those opponents who like to hit and run (...sins...)

I'm still open to even more opinions~! So keep them coming!

I would consider Frenzy over Tiger Stance. Smart usage of both Frenzy and Sprint is good. And it would also make you a better player overall.

Although, I highly recommend a Zealous weapon.

tiger stance : 9 seconds no drawback [20s recharge] .. just be carefull when under blind or vs block ;

frenzy : 8 seconds double damege ; [20s recharge because of your cancel stance ] + you use an extra slot

Frenzy is the best Ias ever ; just in this case Tiger Stance would superior ..

Maybe if you have guild teams, but if you do PUG AB imo you need a self-heal. Sprint or bulls is what I'd drop for it, but its true that spec'ing into tactics just for heal sig may not be a worthwhile return. Since you have factions you might consider going sin secondary and taking shadow refuge. No armor penalty for using it, costs only 5e, plus you get an extra heal if you're attacking when it ends, which makes it great to top off your health in mid-fight. At just 5 points in shadow arts you get 7 pips of regen and 60 health if attacking when it ends. The next break point is 8, which is probably too high to justify the points just for a heal (gives you 8 pips of regen and 72 health if attacking when it ends). But then again, there are some really cool other skills in that line for a warrior in AB--for example, death's charge makes you one scary dude in AB.

Yet, Sprint also serves as an IMS, which should be a staple in a PvP Warrior build.

It's not just a cancel stance, it serves another purpose than just that.

The same goes for Bull's Strike.

How is at an extra slot? Any good warrior has a IMS skill in there bar anyway so no waste.

[skill]lion's comfort[/skill]

- healz (zomg!)
- allows you to retain your adrenaline when running from shrine to shrine (ZOMG!)
- chains sweetly with [skill]dragon slash[/skill]...

...you so need Nightfall.

EDIT: lol. Your last build looks good - but as said Frenzy > Tiger Stance

I’ve did a crapload (10+) of AB on the double faction weekend without a selfheal and I was fine. I was with a group of people I didn’t know but as long as you don’t pick the first 3 people that want to join it doesn’t make a difference (unless of course they’re worthwhile taking, of course). As long as someone knows how to direct the team (keep them running to each shrine, avoiding mobs, etc), and there is some effort in putting a worthwhile team together, not running a selfheal is fine.

The only time I've needed a self heal in AB is when my team didn't have a monk or rit healer and I had to take down the Ele shrine, ie be the first one to be hit. Taking 3 lightning orbs then an Invoke lightning can really cut even a war with sentinals down fast.

Outside of that shrine however there is very little need for a self heal in AB, even with a bad pug. If the party is so bad that you keep dying or finding yourself soloing shrines then its a good bet your side is going to lose regardless if you had a self heal.

Oh and Marty....10+ isn't realy enough to be called a 'crapload'....during the double piont weekends I often do 50+ runs But then I have 0 life......

Heh, 10+ on one day compared to one or two in half a year is a lot. Btw, you can just dodge the orbs, and Lightning Surge shouldn't be too much trouble. Besides, Wars aren't build to play solo like that, they suck in comparison to what they can do with a full 8-person team.
